Coming early 2017, your new destination for making craft beer at home.
If you ask the average person on the street what they think of homebrew, basically the answer is YUCK!
It's time to change that.
For most people, the first taste of homebrew was in high school, made by one of their buddies who was trying to make something cheap. They probably fermented bread yeast in an old pickle bucket with some goo out of a can. Two weeks later they tossed it into some questionably washed bottles and called it beer. (Ok, maybe that's not everybody’s experience, but it was mine. We named it goose penis and actually drank that dilly mess!)
Well it isn’t the 90’s anymore. We have the internet, electric cars and smart phones! Beer has come a long way too, with the ability to order fresh specialty grains from all over the world, plus hundreds of different yeast strains and hop varieties. We can do it now, we can make good beer at home.
Join us for an adventure into craft beer, the styles, the history, and the ways to brew. Aiming to launch early 2017, we will cut through the confusion and make it easy for Canadians to make beer at home.
Make Beer is committed to making it easy as possible for Canadians to make quality craft beer in their own homes. Ordering ingredients or equipment online from the United States seems like a good idea until you see the shipping costs and the duty you have to pay. Local home brew shops are great, but the overwhelming selection can be intimidating for the first time brewer.
Our goal is to cut through the confusion and show you how fun and easy it can be to make beer at home. We will educate and walk you step by step through the process. It’s a lot like making a pot of soup from scratch, and can be just as simple.
You don't have to be a "professional" to make great beer at home!
Right here in Alberta we have access to some of the finest malted barley in the world, and hop growers are producing more varieties in Canada every year. Everything you need to make fresh craft beer is produced locally.
